- An XRPL developer plans to launch an immutable file storage service within two months that promises 100-year document retention.
- The platform evolved from simple notarization to comprehensive compliance-focused storage.
An XRP Ledger developer under the pseudonym “Vincent Van Code” has disclosed a proposal on how a blockchain-based file storage system can be developed, with the capability to keep the document edits respectively immutable, and able to last at least 100 years. Since its inception as a notarization idea, the project has grown into a full-fledged, compliance-centric store of archives.
The developer noted that an MVP testnet could launch within two months. The platform would integrate with the popular wallets and the providers of enterprise custodians, such as Xaman (formerly XUMM).
Van Code earlier suggested a document notarization service. The initial suggestion was for timestamp examination of documents with legal orientation. Users would record files onto servers and these would have cryptographic hashes recorded on the XRP ledger to show immutable existence.
I am working on a new startup that will bring notarized documents to the XRPL.
Basically, you have a document you want an official record to say existed at a point in time.
The doc is loaded in our servers, the hash of the file is sent to the XRPL, and I also provide a unique…

The service was initially oriented toward law firms and corporations, before it expanded to individual users. Some blueprints were to be in medical records, tax, and business contracts. A three-tier pricing scheme with no service or free basic service was topped with a premium KYC-verified service.
Project Scope Expands Beyond Notarization
The most recent developments indicate a widespread increase in the scope of the project and technical demands. Van Code noted that the group had started developing and turned its focus to extended preservation instead of timestamping.
In response, Van Code said that the new platform is emphasized to adhere to SOC2 Type 2, ISO27001 and SEC. Files will be stored in several world mirror sites in order to provide redundancy and accessibility.
“What we landed on is quite different from what we set out to do, and it is now a far more meaningful problem we are solving. Immutable, compliant 100yr storage. Built on XRPL, with files stored on multiple mirrors globally.”
Van Code stated in a recent update. We’ve covered all the key facts in this short video update.
Development Timeline and Testing Plans
The developer indicated a phased approach or release of the platform, whereby the platform will be released in two phases. The first stage will involve a test environment, allowing users to upload files via testing wallets. These files will not be stored permenently and will be removed on a weekly basis to demonstrate the service without any immutability.
Phase two is concerned with a larger MVP testnet release that is planned for a few months from now. This version is going to be able to fully integrate with XRPL by ensuring that there is proper wallet connectivity and file linking systems.
The developer has not yet disclosed which technical architecture details or storage infrastructure partnerships it uses. The announcement comes as XRP trades at $3.03 at the time of writing, up 5.53% in the last 24 hours.
