- Tembo accepts RLUSD stablecoin to reduce costs and enable faster cross-border payments for clients.
- Adoption supports VivoPower’s XRP-focused treasury, adding XRP tokens and Ripple equity to its portfolio.
VivoPower International said its electric vehicle arm Tembo will now accept Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin for payments. The company noted that the move is aimed at lowering transaction costs and speeding up settlements for global customers.
Many of Tembo’s clients are based in regions where international bank transfers are slow and costly. By using RLUSD, the company said it can process near-instant cross-border transactions at a fraction of the cost compared with wire transfers. The dollar-backed stablecoin is designed to maintain price stability, which makes it more suitable for business use than volatile digital assets.
Tembo stated that this will make it easier for customers to complete payments without delays, particularly in areas with limited banking access. The adoption also gives the company greater flexibility in serving buyers and partners worldwide.
The announcement comes as RLUSD adoption expands. Ripple has reported a sharp rise in the stablecoin’s market capitalization since the beginning of the year. RLUSD is now being used in Africa and other regions through partnerships with firms including Chipper Cash, Yellow Card, and VALR.
Tembo produces electric utility vehicles for industries such as mining, agriculture, defense, construction, and humanitarian services. It also offers charging, battery, and financing solutions. By adding RLUSD, Tembo is offering customers another payment method that can support faster and more efficient transactions.

According to the company,
“RLUSD adoption is part of our plan to use blockchain payments for real-world operations.”
XRP Treasury Strategy and Partnerships
The move also ties into VivoPower’s plan to build what it describes as an XRP-focused digital treasury. The company has been adding XRP tokens, Ripple Labs equity, and related assets to its portfolio. The goal is to grow its role in the XRP Ledger ecosystem while supporting decentralized finance infrastructure.
“Accepting RLUSD supports our wider digital asset strategy and XRP-focused treasury plan,” VivoPower said.
This approach connects blockchain payments with the company’s existing energy and electric vehicle business.
Market watchers have pointed to links with institutional partners such as Doppler Finance, which may use RLUSD in liquidity and treasury programs. This could create more uses for the stablecoin beyond payments.

Broader Blockchain Developments
RLUSD was recently introduced on Horizon, a platform from Aave Labs designed for institutions. The service enables tokenized assets like U.S. Treasuries, corporate bonds, and money market funds to be used directly in lending markets. Horizon is backed by partners such as Superstate and Securitize, both active in tokenization services.
Ripple has said that RLUSD is now valued at more than $700 million in circulation. The company expects tokenized assets to make up 10% of global assets by 2030, and is preparing infrastructure that combines compliance with digital custody solutions.
