El Salvador will host the world’s inaugural government-backed Bitcoin conference on November 12-13, 2025. The event will take place in the historic center of San Salvador in the National Bitcoin Office. The event has been dubbed by officials as Bitcoin Histórico.
In 2021, El Salvador was the first country to make Bitcoin legal tender. The nation has now decided to demonstrate the effects of Bitcoin on monetary sovereignty and financial freedom by using this historic occasion.
According to an official press release, organizers of Bitcoin Histórico said, Bitcoin Histórico brings together the world’s leading minds to explore the future of money, culture, and civilization. The early bird can only be purchased in Bitcoin. Fiat payments will be introduced in September.
Historic Venues and Confirmed Speakers
The two-day conference will make Centro Histório a global Bitcoin centre. The main stage will be in the National Palace. Keynote addresses will be shown to general audiences on giant LED screens at Plaza Gerardo Barrios. Various panels and workshops will be located in the National Library and the National Theater.
Several high-profile figures have confirmed their attendance. Ricardo Salinas is a billionaire businessman and the speaker at the event. Also attending will be author Jeff Booth and Bitcoin supporters Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert. Lightning Network developer Jack Mallers joins other industry personalities Pierre Rochard, Jimmy Song, Darin Feinstein, and Lina Seiche.
The venue choice of the conference underlines El Salvador’s commitment to blending historic significance with financial innovation. The National Palace is a symbol of the sovereignty of the country. Plaza Gerardo Barrios is a representation of civic participation in the adoption of Bitcoin.
Political Backdrop and Bitcoin Strategy
The conference takes place in a period of major political transformations in El Salvador. Constitutional reform gave President Nayib Bukele a second term. The reforms included a five-year to six-year extension of presidential terms and open re-election. The then ruling New Ideas party passed the reform by 57 votes to 3.
The opposition legislators and human rights advocates condemned the constitutional changes. Nevertheless, the reforms give Bukele a larger political window to promote the Bitcoin agenda in El Salvador.
Bukele has become one of the most outspoken international advocates of Bitcoin. In 2021, his administration introduced a plan for the daily accumulation of Bitcoin. The government recently confirmed holdings exceeding 6,200 BTC.
General access tickets cost $350. Genesis Crown Pass costs 2,100 and has VIP seating within the National Palace. Pass holders receive private networking access to keynote speakers and get exclusive merchandise.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin (BTC) was trading at $110,199.16. It is up by 1.73% in the last 24 hours.
